Study finds many Apps well-suited for ad-supp...

A Flurry™ study of more than 2,000 apps and 2,000,000 mobile sessions has found that ad-supported models are effective for many mobile apps, especially news, reference, and weather apps.  The study suggests that if at least 1-in-4 mobile subscribers use an app for more than 90 days, then it has a high value to advertisers.  With data for Blackberry, Apple, Android and JavaME, the study is good news for mobile advertising, as almost two-thirds of the app categories investigated could monetize through ad-supported models.  In the adapted chart below, apps inside the highlighted region are well suited for ad-supported models.

Smartphones driving growth of mobile advertis...

A trio of CEOs representing heavy-hitting ad agencies agreed that increased smartphone adoption is making mobile a more desirable platform for brand advertisers.

These high-powered advertising executives weighed in on the state of the mobile industry during a panel at the Mobile Ad Summit during advertising week in New York. While the panelists admitted that the recession has taken its toll on marketing spend, they were bullish about the prospects for mobile going forward.

bullish on the state of mobile marketing, despite the recession. During
the panel titled “The Elephant in the Room: The Economy,” panelists
discussed remaining barriers for scale and how the industry is
overcoming them, as well as the impact that the recession will have on
mobile. Panelists stressed the fact that brands that integrate mobile
into their overall marketing mix are seeing excellent ROI.
