Recently Jumptap’s Joey Ramer had a piece on Mobile’s Unsung Hero featured on Mediaweek. In his piece, Ramer argues that mobile advertisting is changing towards a performance-based model focused on ROI. Just as the PC world moved to keyword targeted ads, Ramer predicts the mobile world will do the same. Jumptap and a few others are leading the way, offering keyword targeted mobile advertising campaigns. Despite the lack of fancy graphics, these campaigns have shown an improved ROI and also increase the advertisers’ understanding of the user, compared to impression-based models. Ramer’s leaves us with this prediction:
“Combine our current economic environment with explosive growth in mobile and lagging advertiser participation, and you can expect to see similar tectonic shifts in mobile.”

The Mobile Landscape
tapMatch Demo
Heavily funded mobile search and advertising startup JumpTap is launching a new mobile ad marketplace called tapMatch, which it says will offer a more targeted approach than the competition. The Cambridge, Mass. company already offers mobile search and display advertising, but tapMatch is JumpTap’s answer to Google’s AdWords, where advertisers can bid to have their ads (usually just a few lines of text) appear next to specific keywords.
On the heels of JumpTap’s announcement of tapMatch, its pay-per-click (PPC) performance mobile ad marketplace, I can finally post this exclusive Q&A with Paran Johar, JumpTap CMO. During the pre-briefing we went through the nuts and bolts of the offer (unlike Google, which offers keyword bidding and MCN - a provider of mobile search management, search merchandising, and PPC content promotion solutions offering category bidding- Jumptap offers both), and took a closer look at how the search technology potentially maximizes performance by delivering contextually relevant advertising.

Mobile ad seller JumpTap has launched a new performance-based mobile ad network for search and display placements.
Called tapMatch, the new network lets advertisers place and manage graphical banner and paid search ads together. Search ads may appear on AOL and Ask.com mobile search results, while display ads may appear on JumpTap’s existing site partners.
